The Weissenhof settlement built in Stuttgart in 1927 was a collaborative project for the German Association of Craftsmen (Deutscher Werkbund), involving the leading representatives of the Neues Bauen (New Architecture) movement. It comes as no surprise to learn that this is the only place where so many designs by prominent modernist architects can be found in such a small space. It includes works by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius, Ludwig Hilberseimer, Hans Scharoun, Mart Stam, Bruno Taut, and many others. The Bauhaus Taschenbuch 14 is dedicated to this important modernist housing estate.
