Dishammonia is a work installed on the façade of the Schulterblatt 73 building in Hamburg for the duration of the Hamburg Summer of Architecture. In her drawing, Michaela Melián has amalgamated Hamburg buildings that have either already been demolished or are due to be demolished, combining them to create a new cityscape. “Melián’s drawings manage a rare achievement—they revolve around what has disappeared, as if the line were a lasso that captures the form of the building at the moment it starts to fade away, while at the same time acting as the blueprint for a new world, a modern urban utopia. The fact that this is under fire turns Michaela Melián’s temporary façade work into an image of modernity charted in a double sense.” (Niklas Maak)
