Beginning with the exhibition craze of the 1950s, Linus Rapp’s monograph Wohltuende Sachlichkeit looks at the design work carried out at the HfG and the way this was reflected in theoretical considerations. In this sense, the book interprets exhibitions as the outcome of design processes bearing fruit in the public arena and as a starting point for the critical analysis of basic questions about systems and methods of staging and representation. Particular emphasis is placed here on the public res- ponses that these exhibitions elicited.
Linus Rapp received his doctorate from Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen, and has been a volunteer at the Bavarian State Painting Collections since January 2021.
